JERUSALEM, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- The Israeli military on Thursday evening released satellite images of three sites in central Beirut they claimed to be used by the Iran-backed Hezbollah to construct missile conversion infrastructure.

After Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday night first revealed these sites during his speech at the United Nations General Assembly, the Israeli army released the videos and photos of the sites.

The three sites are located near the Beirut Rafiq Hariri International Airport, according to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).

The attempts to establish infrastructure to convert missiles are "another example of Iranian entrenchment in the region and of Iran's negative influence," said the Israeli army.

"In Lebanon, Iran is directing Hezbollah to build secret sites to convert inaccurate projectiles into precision guided missiles that can target deep inside Israel within an accuracy of ten meters," said Netanyahu during his speech.

The IDF noted that the Hezbollah has been trying to establish infrastructure to convert surface-to-surface rockets to accurate missiles in the Uza'i neighborhood in Beirut near the international airport over the past year.

Israel is monitoring these sites with various means and is responding with various operational tools and methods, added the Israeli army.

The Israeli fighter jets on Sept. 18 targeted a facility of the Syrian Armed Forces in the coastal province of Latakia overnight.

The strike was aimed to prevent the delivery of systems to manufacture "accurate and lethal weapons" from Iran to the Iran-backed Shiite militia of Hezbollah in Lebanon, the military said.

A Russian reconnaissance plane was shot down by Syrian anti-aircraft fire launched in response to the Israeli airstrike on Iranian target in Latakia. The 15 Russian aircrew members were killed.
