SEOUL, Oct. 23 (Xinhua) -- South Korea's biggest steelmaker, POSCO, posted a double-digit gain in the third-quarter earnings due to strong performance in all businesses, a regulatory filing showed Tuesday.

Consolidated operating profit was 1.53 trillion won (1.35 billion U.S. dollars) in the July-September quarter, up 36.0 percent from a year earlier.

It was the biggest quarterly profit since the second quarter of 2011, topping 1 trillion won for the fifth consecutive quarter.

Revenue advanced 9.1 percent over the year to 16.41 trillion won (14.43 billion U.S. dollars) in the September quarter, and net income jumped 16.7 percent to 1.06 trillion won (932 million U.S. dollars).

The double-digit increase in the earnings was attributed to solid performance in all businesses, such as steel-making, construction and energy units.

With the robust third-quarter earnings, POSCO revised up its outlook for this year's revenue to 64.8 trillion won (57 billion U.S. dollars).

During the January-September period, the steelmaker's revenue amounted to 48.4 trillion won (42.5 billion U.S. dollars).
