BEIRUT, Nov. 16 (Xinhua) -- Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri said Friday that he has proposed a solution to break the deadlock of government formation caused by a rift among political factions over representation.

"I have proposed a solution to the crisis but I hope that they take it into account," he told Al Joumhouria, a local newspaper, in an interview, expressing hope that communications between various political parties would lead to positive results.

Sunni lawmakers from outside Lebanese Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri's Future Movement have been demanding to be represented by at least one seat in the government but Hariri, backed by President Michel Aoun, refused the demand saying that the six Sunni lawmakers did not have the right of representation because they were not part of a unified parliamentary block.

Hezbollah, a Shiite Islamic political party in Lebanon, has strongly backed the independent Sunni lawmakers' demand.

The issue of the Sunni representation in the government has been the latest obstacle facing the cabinet formation.
