ANKARA, Dec. 7 (Xinhua) -- Turkey and the United States said on Friday that they have agreed to speed up efforts to achieve "concrete progress" on their Manbij roadmap by the end of the year.

The Turkish-U.S. high level working group on Syria, including diplomats and defence officials, met in Ankara for the third time.

"They committed to accelerated and concrete progress on the Manbij roadmap by the end of the year," a joint statement said after the meeting.

Both sides also agreed to continue to work on joint planning with regard to other areas as mentioned in the Manbij roadmap.

Turkey and the U.S. also decided to meet frequently to effectively address security concerns in Syria.

According to the statement, the next high level working group on Syria meeting will be held in Washington "no later than February 2019."

Earlier this year, Turkey and the U.S. reached a deal over Syria's Manbij, under which the Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) militia is to completely withdraw from the area.
