YANGON, Dec. 20 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar authorities seized some fake currency notes in the denomination of 10,000 Myanmar kyats in the southern Tanintharyi region, the official Global New Light of Myanmar reported Thursday.
A total of 50 such counterfeit currency notes were seized from a man who came to remit money for the remainder of payment for a car which he purchased two months ago at Ayeyarwady bank branch in Myeik city on Wednesday morning.
local police has filed a case against the 63-year-old gardener under the Central Bank of Myanmar Law.
Meanwhile, a Singaporean couple were also charged for possessing some 45 counterfeit Myanmar currency notes in the denomination of 10,000 kyats which they used at Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon on Nov. 30.
