LIMA, Jan. 3 (Xinhua) -- Peru's agricultural exports totaled 7.03 billion U.S. dollars in 2018, Agriculture Minister Gustavo Mostajo said Thursday.
This volume registered an increase of 12.4 percent from the year before.
Peru's thriving agri-export sector has been driven by the foreign trade policy of President Martin Vizcarra's government with an aim to diversify the country's export markets, said Mostajo.
Peruvian products in most market demand abroad last year included avocados, grapes, unroasted coffee, quinoa, cacao and mangoes, which represented around 44 percent of Peru's total agri-exports.
The main markets for Peru's agricultural goods were Germany, Spain, the Netherlands, China, Chile, Canada, the United States, Ecuador and Colombia.
In 2019, as part of Peru's push to spur foreign trade, the agricultural attache will join the South American country's diplomatic outposts.
