RIO DE JANEIRO, April 4 (Xinhua) -- Copa Libertadores champions River Plate continued their stuttering title defense, coming from behind to earn a 2-2 draw at Internacional on Wednesday.

Nicolas Lopez and Edenilson gave the hosts a 2-0 lead after 31 minutes in the southern Brazilian city of Porto Alegre before Lucas Pratto and Nicolas de la Cruz struck either side of half-time to earn the Argentine side a point.

The result leaves River third in Group A with three draws from as many matches.

Leaders Internacional moved three points clear of second-placed Palestino of Chile, who romped to a 3-0 home win over Peru's Alianza Lima on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Brazil's Cruzeiro extended their lead in Group B to five points after a 1-0 win over Emelec in Ecuador's port city of Guayaquil.

Uruguay's Penarol beat Flamengo 1-0 at Rio's Maracana stadium to leapfrog the Brazilian outfit at the head of Group D.

In other matches on Wednesday, Venezuela's Deportivo Lara won 2-1 at home to Huracan of Argentina, Bolivia's Jorge Wilstermann drew 2-2 at Deportes Tolima in Colombia and Chile's Universidad de Concepcion were held to a goalless home draw by Argentinian side Godoy Cruz.
