TOKYO, April 5 (Xinhua) -- Defending champion Zhu Yuling registered her second win of the day, beating Miu Hirano of Japan 3-1 on the first day of Asian Cup table tennis tournament in Yokohama on Friday.
Zhu enjoyed a flying start in the match, winning the first game 11-1 and then extended her advantage to 2-0 after taking the second game 11-8. Though Miu Hirano fought back to win the third game 11-6, Zhu again took control of the match in the fourth game, winning in 11-3 to wrap up her second victory on Friday.
Earlier on Friday, Zhu Yuling beat Doo Hoi Kem of Hong Kong, China 3-0 (11-7, 11-9, 11-3).
It was Zhu's fifth straight win against Miu Hirano since 2017.
Zhu's teammate Chen Meng also harvested two wins on Friday, beating Cheng I-Ching of Chinese Taipei 3-1 (11-6, 11-3, 8-11, 11-8) and Jeon Jihee of South Korea 3-0 (11-2, 13-11, 11-4) respectively.
China sent two male and two female paddlers to the Asian Cup tournament which will run through April 7.
