BEIJING, April 21 (Xinhua) -- China's national observatory renewed a yellow alert on Sunday for thick fog in sea areas.
Heavy fog will hit parts of the Bohai Sea and the Yellow Sea and coastal regions in the East China Sea from Sunday night to Monday morning, according to the National Meteorological Center (NMC).
Visibility in the affected areas will be reduced to less than 1 km, the NMC said.
The NMC also forecasted thick fog in east China's Shandong Province and the southern province of Jiangxi.
The observatory said drivers should slow down to safe speeds, while airports, freeways, and ports should take appropriate safety measures.
China has a four-tier color-coded warning system for severe weather, with red being the most serious, followed by orange, yellow, and blue.
