RAMALLAH, April 21 (Xinhua) -- Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyadh al-Malki announced on Sunday the launch of a Palestinian diplomatic campaign to confront the U.S. Middle East peace plan, known as the "Deal of the Century."

Al-Malki said to the official voice of Palestine that the campaign would begin by sending massage by the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to the world leaders, to get their support for the Palestinian position in the face of the century deal.

He explained that Abbas will soon address the foreign ministers of the European Union in the framework of mobilizing European and international support against the U.S. deal.

Al-Maliki said that the Palestinians "at a crossroads, which is very important to face the major challenges, especially regarding the Israeli measures to cancel the Palestinian presence and end the national project and the open war of the U.S. administration on Palestinian rights."

President Abbas is due to meet with Arab foreign ministers at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo later Sunday with a Palestinian request.

Maliki said that Abbas would speak to the Arab foreign ministers and ask them to emphasize the constants set by the Arab countries on the Palestinian issue and the implementation of decisions of the Arab summits in light of the challenges facing the Palestinian people.

He added that Abbas will emphasize in his speech before the Arab ministers on the Palestinian rejection of the century deal and demand Arab, Islamic and international support for this position.

Maliki said Abbas would reaffirm the vision of peace he put forward last year in the UN Security Council by calling for an international peace conference, stopping all unilateral measures, abiding by international legitimacy, UN resolutions and calling for negotiations through an international multilateral benchmarks.

He explained that what is required of the Arabs is how to strengthen the Palestinian position and protect it plus the political and financial support, stressing the importance of meeting Abbas with the Arab foreign ministers as the beginning of a Palestinian movement against the century deal.

U.S. President Donald Trump's envoy for international negotiations, Jason Greenblatt, hinted that his country's well-known peace plan for the century deal would not include a two-state solution on the 1967 borders and that it was not alone in ending the conflict.

Greenblatt, according to Israeli public radio, warned that the Palestinian and Israeli sides would miss an opportunity if they refused to negotiate, especially the Palestinians, adding that the two sides would be satisfied with some parts of the plan and were not satisfied with others.

The Palestinian Authority has boycotted the U.S. administration in terms of political contacts since President Trump announced on December 6, 2017 recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and the transfer of the embassy to it on May 14.

Since the Trump declaration, the Palestinians have been demanding an international mechanism to take care of peace negotiations with Israel, which have already been stalled between the two sides since 2014, after nine months of U.S.-sponsored talks that did not lead to any agreement.
