Pakistan condemns blast attacks in Sri Lanka

ISLAMABAD, April 21 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan on Sunday condemned the terrorist attacks in Sri Lanka, saying his country stands with the people of Sri Lanka during the hour of grief.

"Strongly condemn the horrific terrorist attack in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday resulting in precious lives lost & hundreds injured. My profound condolences go to our Sri Lankan brethren. Pakistan stands in complete solidarity with Sri Lanka in their hour of grief," the prime minister said on its official Twitter account.

The country's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Muhammad Faisal also condemned the explosions, saying on Twitter that "People and Government of Pakistan stand by people and Government of Sri Lanka at this moment of tragedy and against terror."

Over 200 people were killed and more than 400 injured after eight explosions targeting churches and hotels ripped through Sri Lanka on Sunday.
