BEIRUT, May 2 (Xinhua) -- Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah warned on Thursday that any Israeli forces who dare to enter the south of Lebanon will be destroyed, the MTV channel reported.

"Late (Israeli) Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin used to say before the year 2000 the south of Lebanon has a lot of mountains and hills but nobody knows what is hiding behind these mountains, hills, houses and roads. Rabin said that he could not enter the south of Lebanon, and you should believe this," Nasrallah said in a televised speech.

Nasrallah asked the Lebanese not to worry about a possible Israeli war with Lebanon, because Lebanon is strong with the support of its people, army and resistance.

"Do not allow anyone to frighten you. You are not weak," he told the Lebanese audience.

"It is true that we have some weaknesses, but we are extremely strong and Israel takes this into account," he added.

Nasrallah's remarks came after the reports by some media outlets about an Israeli plan to wage a war against Lebanon.

The Israel-Lebanon border has been relatively calm since 2006, when Hezbollah and Israel fought a war that lasted for 34 days before reaching a UN-brokered ceasefire in August 2006.
