GENEVA, May 16 (Xinhua) -- China claimed their second win at the Montreux Volley Masters by defeating Poland 22-25, 25-17, 25-22, 27-25 in their last Pool A match on Wednesday.
Poland's Malwina Smarzek scored a game-high 31 points, only to see China comeback from 1-0 down to seal the win.
Li Yingying, the 19-year-old spiker who help Bohai Bank Tianjin win the Asian Women's Club Volleyball Championship earlier this month, contributed a team-high 23 points.
In another Pool A matchup, Japan beat Germany 25-19, 23-25, 25-18, 29-27.
Losing 3-1 to Japan in the opening game, China now sits second of Pool A behind Japan. The Chinese girls have to have their fingers crossed that Poland will not beat Germany 3-0 on Thursday, so that they can make it into the semifinals.
In Pool B, Italy won 25-27, 25-20, 25-20, 25-23 against Turkey. They will play Switzerland on Thursday when group leaders Thailand face off against Turkey.
