XI'AN, May 24 (Xinhua) -- Shaanxi Chang'an Athletic's new head coach Wang Bo has vowed to earn promotion to the Chinese Super League.

Wang made the pledge after he replaced Zhang Jun at the helm of the China League outfit.

"I will try my best to lead the team to avoid relegation this season. Over the next two years, I will help the team secure its position in the Chinese Super League," the 49-year-old said.

The club, which was promoted to the second tier league this season, temporarily led the table at the beginning of the campaign before dropping down the table, and currently sit 13th of 16 teams.

Wang was assistant coach at Shaanxi Chanba FC from 2006 to 2011. In 2012, the Chanba franchise moved to China's southwestern city of Guiyang, and Wang went with it.

Shaanxi has unveiled a plan to promote the sport in the region, in a bid to see the province have a side in the CSL by 2020.
