GWANGJU, South Korea, July 14 (Xinhua) -- Reigning champion Russia led the women's team technical preliminary of artistic swimming at 96.2253 points while China and Ukraine followed in the 2019 FINA World Championships here on Sunday.
Defending champions Russia enjoyed hails and applause throughout their strong performance in the pool as China also impressed the audience and judges later as with their routine "Chasing dreams" hitting 94.3638, which was one of their best scores in recent competitions. Ukraine stand in third at 93.3313.
"We wanted to present the strong and powerful side of China to the world, so we choose and adapted the music I Love You China," said vice captain Guo Li.
Guo believed that all the Chinese athletes will be ready to put on a better show in the final on Tuesday.
"This is just a start for the team event, and we already created a really good start by giving almost all that we have in the training," said Guo.
