Indonesia assures men's doubles champion title in Indonesia Open tournament

JAKARTA, July 20 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia assured a title in Indonesia Open after two men's doubles pairs won their matches in semifinals held in Istora Senayan landmark badminton arena here on Saturday.

The defending champions Marcus Fernaldi Gideon/Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo would meet their senior compatriots Hendra Setiawan/Muhammad Ahsan in the final match slated for Sunday.

The defending champion outclassed Chinese contenders Li Junhui/Liu Yuchen in less than half an hour with scores of 21-9 and 21-13.

Meanwhile in an earlier match, the tournament's 2013 champions Hendra Setiawan/Muhammad Ahsan beat Japanese pair Takuro Hoki/Yugo Kobayashi in three games lasted in 57 minutes with scores of 17-21, 21-19 and 21-17.

"To be honest we did not have the expectation to get into finals, we initially targeted to seize semifinals. We will play maximal in the final match tomorrow," Hendra said on the sidelines of the match.

The prestigious Indonesia Open tournament is one of three BWF World Tour Super 1000 series. The other two are China Open and All England tournaments.

In Sunday's final match, successful players in Indonesia Open tournament will receive total rewards of 1.25 million U.S. dollars provided by the organizer.
