BEIRUT, Aug. 1 (Xinhua) -- President Michel Aoun called upon the Lebanese armed forces on Thursday to continue protecting the southern borders of the country against Israeli threats, Lebanon Presidency's website reported.

"The Israeli enemy is violating UN Resolution 1701 and other resolutions on a continuous basis which requires our armed forces to be highly alert facing any possible threats," Aoun said during a ceremony marking 74 years since the founding of the Lebanese army.

Aoun said that Lebanon's security is red line and there will be no compromise with any attempt to manipulate it.

"Our people deserve to live peacefully while exercising all their rights all over Lebanon without any fears," he said.

Aoun emphasized the importance of security which is an important pillar for a successful economy and prosperous country.
