China advances into quarters at Asian Women's Volleyball Championship

SEOUL, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) -- China has clinched a spot in the quarterfinals at the Asian Women's Volleyball Championship after beating Indonesia 3-0 for their second victory in Pool D here on Monday.

Although Indonesia pushed China hard in the second set, the 13-time champion demonstrated their dominance in front of the net with a much taller squad and initiated a 10-point streak in the third set to grab the match point before sealing a 25-15, 25-19, 25-12 victory.

Triumphing over Sri Lanka on Sunday, the win has secured China's position as Pool D leader and a berth in the quarterfinals.

Elsewhere, hosts South Korea defeated Hong Kong, China 3-0 in their Pool A match-up to make the quarterfinals.

Japan also joined the last eight following a 3-0 sweep over Kazakhstan whereas Australia is still seeking their first win in Pool B after falling to India 3-0.

Chinese Taipei triumphed over New Zealand 3-0 in Pool C.
