TAIPEI, Aug. 24 (Xinhua) -- The industrial production index in Taiwan rose to 112.57 in July, up 3.03 percent year on year, according to data from the island's economic authorities.
The sub-index for the manufacturing sector, which accounts for 90 percent of the island's industrial output, increased 3.07 percent from a year ago, while that for the mining and civil engineering sector dropped 7.13 percent.
The sub-reading for the water supply sector increased 0.27 percent, and that for the electricity and gas supply sector rose 3.30 percent.
Month on month, the headline index increased 5.29 percent in July, with the sub-index for the manufacturing sector up by 5.22 percent.
After seasonal adjustment, the industrial production index in July rose 1.92 percent from June, and the sub-index for the manufacturing sector increased 2.66 percent.
In the first seven months, industrial production went down 1.66 percent from the previous year.
