BASEL, Switzerland, Aug. 24 (Xinhua) -- Third seed Nozomi Okuhara of Japan will face India's Sindhu V. Pusarla in the women's singles final after beating Thailand's Ratchanok Intanon at the Badminton World Championships here on Saturday.

It will be a rematch of the 2017 final in Glasgow when Okuhara defeated Pusarla to become the first Japanese shuttler in history to lift the trophy.

Intanon, the world champion in 2013, took the first set 21-17 but Okuhara fought back to win the next two sets 21-18, 21-15.

Pusarla is looking to avoid a third consecutive defeat in the final after losing to Okuhara in 2017 and to three-time winner Carolina Marin of Spain last year. She breezed past Chinese No. 1 Chen Yufei 21-7, 21-14 in the semifinal.

Chen's loss means that China will have no player to reach the women's singles final for the fourth consecutive world championships.

In the men's draw, defending champion Kento Momota beat India's Sai Praneeth B. 21-13, 21-8, setting up a final showdown against either Anders Andonsen of Denmark or Kantaphon Wangcharoen of Thailand.

In the women's doubles event, second seed Yuki Fukushima/Sayaka Hirota of Japan defeated Chinese duo Du Yue/Li Yinhui 21-11, 21-17 to book a spot in the final.
