BRATISLAVA, Aug. 24 (Xinhua) -- For the next seven days, Slovakia is hosting Group D matches of the 2019 Women's European Volleyball Championships.
The Group D features Slovakia, Germany, Russia, Spain, Belarus and Switzerland.
The matches of other groups are played simultaneously in Poland, Hungary and Turkey. Turkey will also host the finals.
The Group D matches in Bratislava, Slovakia's capital, kicked off on Friday when Germany, the silver-medalist from 2013, beat Switzerland 25-16, 25-19, 25-21.
The fans in Bratislava witnessed another dominant win in the next match when Russia, one of the top title-contenders, beat Belarus 26-24, 25-16, 25-22.
Slovakia, playing at the continental championship after a 10-year pause, brought joy to the home fans after a 26-24, 29-27, 25-18 triumph over Spain.
