2019 Asian Open Short Track Speed Skating Trophy opens in Kunming

KUNMING, Aug. 27 (Xinhua) -- The 2019 Asian Open Short Track Speed Skating Trophy opened at the Hongta Sports Center in Kunming on Tuesday.

Over 200 athletes from Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Chinese Taipei and China are participating in the event over the next two days.

"This is the first time the city of Kunming, known as "the city of eternal spring", is hosting such a prestigious ASU event. I wish all the skaters the best of luck." said Asia Skating Union president Myong Hi Chang on Tuesday.

First held in 1990, the Asian Open Short Track Speed Skating Trophy is an established Asia Skating Union event.
