THE HAGUE, Aug. 29 (Xinhua) -- Ajax and OGC Nice reached a deal on the transfer of Danish striker Kasper Dolberg to France, both clubs announced on Thursday.
Dolberg had a contract until mid-2022 at Ajax. The French Ligue 1 side paid a transfer fee of 20.5 million euros (22.6 million U.S. dollars) for the Danish striker.
The now 21-year-old Dolberg made his debut for Ajax in July 2016 and impressed in his first season. Ajax even rejected an offer by AS Monaco of 50 million euros on him two years ago.
In the following seasons however Dolberg failed to continue this form, partly due to injuries. In total he played 119 official matches for Ajax in which he scored 45 times. This year he won the Dutch championship, Dutch Cup and Dutch Super Cup with Ajax.
