RIYADH, Sept. 3 (Xinhua) -- The Saudi-led coalition involved in a war in Yemen intercepted on Tuesday a drone launched by Houthi militia towards the kingdom, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

The spokesperson of the coalition, Turki Al Maliki, said that the drone was shot down on Tuesday morning after it was launched from Amran area in Yemen towards Saudi Arabia.

He explained that all attempts by the Iranian-backed Houthi militia to launch drones are "doomed to fail."

The coalition takes all operational procedures and best practices of engagement rules to deal with these drones to protect civilians, Maliki added.
