ALGIERS, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) -- Algerian side USM Algiers (USMA) on Sunday claimed a precious 4-1 win against Kenya's Gor Mahia in the first leg of the African Champions League's second round qualifications, which was held in Mustapha Tchaker Stadium in Blida province, 50km southeast of Algiers.
Backed by their fans, the Algerians edged nearer to secure a berth in the Champions League group stage, should they maintain their dominance in the second leg match in Kenya's Nairobi, on September 29.
Defender Rabie Meftah scored a brace in the first half, while striker Zakaria Benchaa managed to score the third and fourth goals for the home side.
Gor Mahia's Kenneth Muguna converted a penalty in the 56th minute.
