Kyrgyzstan, AFC discuss development of football

BISHKEK, Sept. 18 (Xinhua) -- President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov and visiting President of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa on Wednesday discussed the development of football and its further popularization in Kyrgyzstan, said the Kyrgyz presidential press service.

During the meeting, Jeenbekov noted with satisfaction the positive activities and reforms of the AFC aimed at developing football throughout the Asian continent and expressed gratitude for its support of Kyrgyzstan's football, according to the press service.

He emphasized that football in Kyrgyzstan is one of the most popular mass sports, which young people play in all cities and villages of the country.

The AFC president expressed gratitude to the Kyrgyz side for supporting football and fruitful cooperation in this regard, citing AFC's close work with the Kyrgyz Football Federation and their joint plans for cooperation.

He also expressed readiness to provide further assistance to the initiatives of the Kyrgyz Football Federation and the implementation of projects aimed at the development of football in the country.
