Becks: Quitting football was my toughest move
Football legend ... David Beckham questions whether retirement was right choice
DAVID BECKHAM has admitted having doubts about hanging his boots up just three months after announcing his retirement from the beautiful game.
The former England captain said he was still weighing up whether he had done the right thing.
He said: “The toughest decision I had to make was retiring when I have been involved in the sport I have loved for so many years, playing professional football for 22 years at the highest level.
“Making that decision, for me, was the toughest.
“I still question myself, of course, but I am 38 years old. I have done what I have done in football. I have had a pretty successful career. I feel it is the right time.”
The ex-Manchester United, Real Madrid and LA Galaxy ace announced his retirement from football back in May.
It ended a career that saw him make 115 appearances for England and 394 for United, winning six Premier League titles and the Champions League along the way.
Becks made his comments during a chat for Sky Sports’ 50 Best Decisions online poll.
He said: “My best decision was signing for Manchester United at 14 years old.”
We reported last week that Beckham was moving back into football — but as boss of a US soccer franchise in Miami.
