BEIJING, Feb. 6 (Xinhua) -- The National Museum of China on Tuesday opened an exhibition of puppet heads from southeast China's Fujian Province.

Over 300 items from the hands of father and son Xu Zhuchu and Xu Qiang, two of the most famous puppet-makers, are on show, attracting a lot of visitors, especially children.

A stage of the traditional Zhangzhou puppet opera is also on display.

The exhibition shows workmanship that features dedication to art, willingness to withstand hardship, inheritance of culture and pursuit of excellence.

Zhangzhou puppet heads feature the characters of traditional Chinese opera, and are known for their exaggerated shapes and facial expressions.

With more than 50 years of experience, Xu Zhuchu's characters range from classic opera figures to fairies and demons from mythology.
