ANKARA, Feb. 26 (Xinhua) -- Turkey has officially submitted documents to the Czech authorities requesting the extradition of the former leader of a Syrian Kurdish party, Deputy Prime Minister and government spokesman Bekir Bozdag said Monday.

Speaking on broadcaster NTV in capital Ankara, Bozdag said Muslim had been plotting terrorist attacks against Turkey and the Turkish Justice Ministry had delivered extradition request to Czech authorities.

Salih Muslim, former co-chair of the Democratic Union Party (PYD), was detained in Prague on Feb. 24 upon Turkey's request and detention order.

Muslum was expected to appear before a court in Prague on Monday, which would decide if he will remain in detention; however, his court hearing was postponed.

Muslim was listed as Turkey's most-wanted terrotist earlier in February with a 1 million USD reward.

The PYD is a leading Kurdish political party in northern Syria. On Jan. 20, Turkey launched military operation against the Kurdish militia People's Protection Units (YPG) in northern Syria. The YPG is the armed wing of the PYD.
