BEIRUT, Feb. 26 (Xinhua) -- Saudi King Salman bin Abdul-Aziz al-Saud delivered Monday a message to Lebanese President Michel Aoun, underscoring the strength of the Lebanese-Saudi ties.

The verbal message was relayed by visiting Saudi envoy Nizar al-Aloula to Aoun during a meeting between the two, affirming Saudi Arabia's support for Lebanon's sovereignty and stability as well as solid bilateral ties, local media reported.

Aloula also informed Aoun that he will invite Prime Minister Saad Hariri to Riyadh.

The Saudi diplomat left following the meeting without giving public comment.

The high-ranking Saudi envoy arrived in Beirut Monday accompanied by a delegation that included former Saudi Charge d'Affaires Walid Bukhari.

The visit marks the first official visit of a high-ranking Saudi official to Lebanon since Hariri resigned from the premiership last year before rescinding his decision.

Upon his arrival in Beirut, Aloula told reporters that he was indeed going to extend an invite to Hariri to visit Saudi Arabia. The two are scheduled to meet at the Grand Serail later in the day.
