AUBAGNE, France, May 27 (Xinhua) -- France started well in 2018 Toulon Tournament with a 4-1 victory over South Korea, and its forward Wilfried Kanga stated unequivocally that the side’s aim is to “win the tournament."

The men’s soccer tournament for Under-21s witnessed its home team attacking the Asian side from the very beginning. Despite South Korea’s persistance, the gap in the teams’ strength was apparent.

Johan Radet, head coach of the French team, was satisfied with his boys’ involvement and their commitment. "Most of the French players didn’t know each other before the tournament, and a lot of them were called up for the first time," he said.

“Our aim is to win the competition. All of the players have this in mind. We are focused and we will try to to reach our goal,” Wilfried Kanga said after the match.

The home team ended up in the sixth spot last year, and only two players from last year are returning.

In the other match of the day, Togo, which is participating in the decades-old tournament for the first time, and is this year’s only African representative, tied 1-1 with Scotland.
