TOKYO, Sept. 11 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks closed higher Tuesday as a weak yen lifted exporter issues and tech shares were buoyed by their counterparts solid overnight advance on Wall Street.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 291.60 points, or 1.30 percent, from Monday to close the day at 22,664.69.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, rose 11.30 points, or 0.67 percent, to finish at 1,698.91.
Oil and coal product, pharmaceutical, and food-linked issues comprised those that gained the most by the close of play.
