ISTANBUL, Sept. 11 (Xinhua) -- The Turkish police on Tuesday detained at least seven people in Istanbul for their suspected links to the Islamic State (IS) militant group, local media reported.
According to the state-run Anadolu Agency, police launched operations in the Sultanbeyli district to capture the suspects who were allegedly trying to recruit new members and spreading terrorist propaganda.
The suspects were also accused of providing financial support to the families of jailed IS militants, the agency said.
More than 300 people were killed in deadly attacks in Turkey over the years blamed on the IS, and Ankara has tightened operations against the group in recent years.
