LIMA, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- Peru coach Ricardo Gareca on Friday recalled forward Yordy Reyna and midfielder Cristian Benavente to the national squad for friendlies against Chile and the United states.

Reyna has scored six goals in 26 matches for Vancouver Whitecaps this year while Benavente has impressed in an unfamiliar role as a left-sided winger for Belgium's Charleroi.

"We like what we are seeing from [Cristian] and he'll possibly have chances to play there [on the left]. We'll see where he fits in," Gareca told a news conference.

As expected, the 24-man squad includes Veracruz goalkeeper Pedro Gallese, Rayo Vallecano defender Luis Advincula and Lokomotiv Moscow forward Jefferson Farfan.

Captain Paolo Guerrero remains absent as he serves a ban for a positive cocaine metabolite sample. The 34-year-old claims he unwittingly consumed the substance in contaminated tea.

Peru, whose participation at this year's World Cup in Russia was their first appearance in football's showpiece event since 1982, will play Chile in Miami on Oct. 12 and the United States four days later in Connecticut.

Peru squad:

Goalkeepers: Pedro Gallese, Jose Carvallo, Patricio Alvarez.

Midfielders: Renato Tapia, Pedro Aquino, Christian Cueva, Paolo Hurtado, Yoshimar Yotun, Horacio Calcaterra, Edison Flores.

Forwards: Andre Carrillo, Andy Polo, Cristian Benavente, Jefferson Farfan, Raul Ruidiaz, Yordy Reyna.
