WASHINGTON, Jan. 11 (Xinhua) -- Golden State Warriors center DeMarcus Cousins will be included in the starting lineup immediately when he is able to make his season debut after being sidelined for nearly a year, coach Steve Kerr said on Thursday.

The four-time All-Star last played on January 26, 2018 for the New Orleans Pelicas when he ruptured his left Achilles tendon in the game against the Houston Rockets.

Cousins joined the defending champions Warriors on a free contract of 5.3 million U.S. dollars a year and hopes to play for the team in the second half of the season.

Although Cousins is targeted to make his first appearance for the Warriors on January 18 against the Los Angeles Clippers, coach Kerr did not confirm the 28-year-old is sure to make it, saying the team needed to have some leeway on either side, which means there is a possibility that Cousins may return against his old owners on January 16.
