BEIJING, June 28 (Xinhua) -- China's Internet watchdog has punished 26 illegal audio sharing platforms as of Friday through a recent campaign to create a healthy cyberspace.

The Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) said in a statement that these platforms, including Zhiya, Soul, Yuwan and Yishuo FM, spread historical nihilism or pornography, violating laws and regulations.

Authorities have held talks with, removed or closed the platforms, the statement read, noting that a plethora of problems have emerged.

Violations of laws and regulations by audio sharing platforms gravely damage cyberspace and bring negative effects to young people and must be punished, the statement said.

The CAC said it supported and encouraged mainstream media outlets to produce more excellent audio items and guide netizens to create quality audio clips.
