Nigeria's U17 football team opens training camp ahead of World Cup

ABUJA, Aug. 14 (Xinhua) -- Nigeria's camping program ahead of the FIFA Under-17 World Cup finals opened on Tuesday, with 52 players have been called up to the camp in Abuja, an official told Xinhua on Wednesday.

The five-time champions are one of four teams to represent Africa at the world cup finals from Oct. 26 to Nov. 17.

Ademola Olajire, a spokesman for the Nigeria Football Federation, told Xinhua most of the players had arrived the training camp in Abuja under the supervision of head coach Manu Garba.

Garba led the Nigerian squad which won the country's fourth title in the United Arab Emirates in 2013.

The Nigerian U17 team, also known as the Golden Eaglets, also triumphed at 1985, 1993, 2007 and 2015 championships respectively.
